Job Purpose

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and operational excellence for the sugar manufacturing business. The role involves overseeing end-to-end operations including cane procurement, production, by-products, sales, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the company’s long-term vision, strategy, and growth roadmap
• Drive diversification into value-added products such as ethanol, power co-generation, and bio-based products
• Ensure alignment with government policies, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices

Operations & Manufacturing

• Oversee sugar manufacturing operations including crushing, recovery, yield optimization, and cost control
• Ensure efficient cane development, procurement, and farmer relationship management
• Drive operational excellence, productivity improvement, and process optimization

Financial & Commercial Management

• Manage P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives
• Strengthen sales, marketing, pricing strategies, and inventory management
• Drive profitability through improved efficiencies and market-led strategies

Stakeholder & Government Relations

• Build strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, government bodies, and regulatory authorities
• Represent the organization with industry associations and external stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and safety regulations

Leadership & Governance

• Lead, mentor, and develop senior leadership and cross-functional teams
• Foster a performance-driven, ethical, and transparent organizational culture
• Work closely with the Board to ensure strong governance and reporting

Desired Skills & Experience

• 20+ years of leadership experience in the sugar industry or allied agro-based industries
• Strong exposure to sugar manufacturing operations, ethanol plants, and co-generation units
• Proven experience in managing large-scale operations and complex stakeholder environments
• Deep understanding of regulatory, pricing, and policy frameworks in Maharashtra
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management capabilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Agriculture / Science
• MBA or Postgraduate qualification preferred
